My 5 yo dd was moved to tears after watching the dvd and talking about India. She asked me with tears in her eyes if the people in the video on the website were still alive. She is always so moved by other people's situations I hesitated in letting her in on the project. She is so compassionate and it will be on her mind for weeks. I decided if she could see how she could help at her tender age then she will grow up with the thought that she can make a difference. Thanks for the opportunity.

Sandwich in Wi shared some hands-on ideas for younger children:

Use dolls or figures to show 4 times the number of people living in your house to relate how many people live in a "space" in India

Listen to some Indian languages online

Take $2 to the grocery store and try to EAT on $2 a day! Let her choose the things you will buy and you eat only those items ($2/person) that day. Consider that this also must pay other expenses as well, in India.

Spend your evening with only candlelight (or a kerosene or other small lamp). Walk a distance with a pail or jug to get water (call a neighbor to agree to let you get water from their house). Use just that water for a morning or a day. Go to a lake or stream and collect a jar of water. Look at it and imagine drinking it. (do I need to add the disclaimer that you shouldn't!?) Give your dd some chores she might not normally do and imagine if she had to do them all day every day to earn money for her family.

Here is a link to some great Indian music:

...Their music is amazing because all classical Indian music is a form of Hindu worship. So to sing Christian songs in the classical style is not very common. It is a very powerful way of reaching Indians. My husband is also a musician and our work is all about making great music for Indians to learn about Jesus through.
