Turning away from anger
Literacy class leads abusive husband to change his ways
Even though he was illiterate, Kabirdas was elected head of his village council.
He was widely respected in the community for his problem-solving skills and leadership.
But at home, Kabirdas’ family saw his darker side. He drank heavily and beat his wife and child.
The atmosphere in his house was dark and fearful.
A teacher for Mission India’s Adult Literacy program heard about Kabirdas, and began visiting him and sharing the Word of God.
He talked with Kabirdas about his behavior and counseled him to treat his family with love and respect. Along with the rest of the literacy class, the teacher prayed that God would transform Kabirdas.
Kabirdas began attending the literacy class and learned how to read and write and do simple arithmetic. His continuing fellowship with his teacher strengthened his faith.
Kabirdas’ anger and violence slowly disappeared. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and along with his family is attending the worship group with other literacy students.
