Faith in Jesus Christ frees widowed mother from addiction

Parvati says Jesus has freed her from a life of shame.

Parvati had reached the lowest point in her life.

Her two children were ashamed of her. Ever since her husband had died nearly five years ago, Parvati had been making and selling alcohol.

She quickly became addicted to alcohol and often turned to prostitution to support her family.

One day, a Mission India Church Planter visited Parvati’s village. As Parvati heard about the life of Jesus Christ, she felt a kinship with the woman who was caught in adultery (John 8:1-11). Jesus prevented the adulterous woman from being stoned to death, and then commanded her to leave her life of sin.

Parvati desperately wanted the love of Jesus, and she decided that she, too, desired to live her life free from shame. Parvati confessed her sins and accepted Christ as her Savior that very day.

Parvati completely gave up prostitution and her liquor business. Many people in Parvati’s village were amazed at the transformation they saw in her lifestyle, including Parvati’s children, who are no longer ashamed of her.

Now, Parvati works as a maid, and she prays for the salvation of her two sons. Parvati also hosts church meetings regularly in her home.
