Prayer changed my dad

Mission India Church Planter brings hope into teenage boy's family

June 29, 2009

Chavan lived under a cloud of anger and violence.

The 13-year-old's father works all day as an agricultural laborer then comes home and gets drunk.

He often argued with Chavan’s mother, and Chavan was very unhappy at home.

As he got older — and bigger — than his dad, sometimes Chavan would even hit his own father to protect his mom.

Chavan met a Mission India Church Planter named Shyam. He poured out his troubles to Shyam.

Shyam prayed with Chavan. They read the Bible together and Shyam encouraged Chavan to act lovingly toward his dad.

Chavan prayed every day for his dad to change.

Within a few months, Chavan happily told Shyam that his dad was becoming different! He stopped drinking, and came home on time. He was nice to Chavan’s mom.

Chavan and Shyam knelt down to thank Jesus for answering their prayers.

Chavan is still growing in his relationship with Jesus. He often tells his parents about the miracle Jesus has blessed their family with. And he is praying that they will know Him as Savior and Lord!
