Jayan's Miracle
A literacy class brought Jayan more blessings than she ever imagined...
Mission India's Adult Literacy Classes are teaching essential reading and writing skills - and introducing Jesus in India's communities!
"Do you know how to read and write?"
Embarrassed, 36-year-old Jayan shook her head. No. Her parents had thought it was a waste of time to educate a girl.
"I got married at a very young age and never got an opportunity to study," she explained.
The Adult Literacy teacher smiled and told her about the free Adult Literacy Classes starting in their village. "You will learn how to read and write and also how to earn money," the teacher said. Jayan was excited!
Each night, after taking care of her household work, Jayan walked to the literacy class.
But one evening, she wasn't feeling well. Her husband took her to the hospital. The doctors told Jayan she had cancer.
Writhing in pain each day, Jayan was terrified.
The Adult Literacy teacher told a local pastor about Jayan. He visited her in the hospital and shared about Jesus and His miracles.
The pastor fasted and prayed. Jayan prayed to Jesus, too.
And - miraculously - Jayan was healed!
Jayan immediately went home and told all her family and neighbors about how Jesus had healed her. She accepted Jesus as her Savior. Today, Jayan is an Adult Literacy graduate. She attends church - and she can read the Bible!
"Now, I have the joy and peace of Jesus in my life," Jayan says. "Please pray for the salvation of my family members."
