Brand New Life

“My whole life has changed after attending literacy classes,” says Tejal. She learned to read and write, can avoid being cheated in the market, and she is following Jesus!

Tejal says her literacy class has
transformed every part of her life...

Life for 40-year-old Tejal is so different than a year ago.

She used to be trapped in poverty. “I faced many problems basically due to my illiteracy and lack of knowledge,” she admits.

When she heard about Mission India’s Adult Literacy Classes, she instantly joined.

“My whole life has changed after attending literacy classes,” she says. “I am so happy that such an opportunity was made possible for me.”

In the areas Tejal used to be weak, she is now strong.

“I used to fear being cheated because I couldn’t count money. Now, I confidently count money and barter in the marketplace. I didn’t know anything about staying clean and healthy, but now I know how to avoid many common sicknesses,” Tejal comments, smiling.

And Tejal gave her life to Jesus through her Bible-based Adult Literacy Class. “Jesus Christ has brought about a new life in me!” she says.

And the light of Christ shone through Tejal into her own family and community.

In those first few days after she decided to follow Jesus, her family, friends, and neighbors opposed her.

But Tejal stood firm, refusing to give up Jesus.

Tejal’s husband noticed a difference in her. Soon, he decided to receive Jesus as his Savior, too. They’re growing in faith and attending church together.

Tejal often says, “Having Jesus is like having miracles all along the way!” She prays for people in her community, and Jesus has healed many!

Today, most of Tejal’s family has committed their lives to Jesus.

“Pray for my brother,” Tejal requests. “He does not yet know Jesus as his Savior.”
